DIY alkanet lip balm
Here is another variation of lip balm prepared predominantly from alkanet root infused sweet almond oil. Alkanet root is primarily used as a natural dyeing agent which gives red Ruby to pink color based on the amount used. I infused 1 tbsp of alkanet root in 1/4 th cup of sweet almond oil for 4-6 weeks in a cool dark place occasionally shaking. Directions to make the lip balm: Step 1: Melt 1 tbsp of Shea butter,1 tbsp of bees wax, 2 tbsps of alkanet infused sweet almond oil, 1 tbsp of olive oil in a heaf proof canning jar over a medium- low heat using double boiler method. Step 2: Add few drops of vitamin E oil and essential oils after removing from the pan. I used rose absolute. Give the mixture few stirs and pour into the lip balm tubes. Once cooled cap the tubes. Voila, lip balm is ready with the pinkish tint.
